Dr. Mickel is an active member of the American Dental Association, Ohio Dental Association, Cleveland Dental Society, National Dental Association, and Forest City Dental Society. She has a particular interest in speaking to elementary and high school children regarding motivation for higher education. She is also active in her church and Sunday school.

Due to their devotion to enhancing the lives of children, Dr. Mickel and her husband, Dr. Andre' Mickel, sponsor a contest wherein elementary school students are asked to submit an essay on why dental health is important. The ten best essays are chosen and each winner is awarded a $100.00 U.S. Savings Bond.

There are several distinct methods of practice that can be employed. One is to view people in their totality as persons, not just the separateness of "work" to be done. This involves our getting to know patients personally and to allow them to know us as individuals dedicated to their welfare.

Another method of practice is less personal and allows little time for learning about the wants and needs of each individual (a very important factor in problem solving).
